Jan Reiss, PhD

Jan Reiss has more than 30 years of experience as a communications professional, most recently at Harvard University. She has worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations whose missions focus on global health, medicine, and science. She is excited to be a member of the Books for Him & Her team and to contribute in the field of public health, where her particular interests are marginalized and vulnerable populations.  
Jan’s deep love of Africa was born during two years of living in Kenya, where she spent her first year of university at the University of Nairobi. She later earned a PhD in linguistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  
Jan believes that all people should enjoy access to the knowledge they need to live safe, healthy, and productive lives, and that all people should receive the support they need to freely and joyously live their true, authentic lives. She imagines a world in which kindness, compassion, and love are paramount.
